We were established in 1977 as the \u2018Grupo\u00a0de estudios sobre la mujer Rosario\u00a0Castellanos\u2019 (GESMujer) to analyse the\u00a0problems affecting women through\u00a0reading and self-awareness. In the\u00a0following thirteen years, we organised\u00a0conferences, lectures, film debates, round\u00a0tables, radio programs, and workshops on\u00a0themes such as women in the workplace,\u00a0legislation,\u00a0 education and health.<\/p>\n

We were incorporated as a civil\u00a0association on the 22nd February 1990 by\u00a0notarial deed 1364, volume 34, as\u00a0witnessed by public notary 51, Jorge\u00a0Martinez Gracida y Bribiesca of the City of\u00a0Oaxaca. We are an independent legal\u00a0entity and, since the 12th October 1999,\u00a0have been accorded the authorisation\u00a0from the \u2018Secretar\u00eda de Hacienda y Cr\u00e9dito\u00a0P\u00fablico\u2019 (SHCP) to receive tax-deductible\u00a0donations.<\/p>\n

In total, we have been campaigning for\u00a0almost forty years not only for cultural\u00a0diversity and gender equality, but for the\u00a0respect of each woman\u2019s human rights.\u00a0This work includes the investigation,\u00a0study and dissemination of information\u00a0about inequality in all forms, be they\u00a0familial, economic, political or legal with a\u00a0view to generating awareness and\u00a0promoting alternatives. It extends from\u00a0the urban to the rural and indigenous\u00a0communities.<\/p>\n
